Since 1925 the Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has been a fixture in motorsports entertainment in one form or another. It has operated under Frontier Park and the Cedar Rapids Speedway. Until 1989 the facility was a 1/2 mile dirt track. In 1989 Hawkeye Downs become Iowa's only paved oval with both 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile tracks, paved pits, an enclosed tech building and inspection area, MUSCO broadcast quality lighting, electronic message board, full concession facilities and many other features. In 2003 plans include the addition of a new scoreboard, transponder timing and scoring system.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway has become a popular venue for some of the most popular regional and national touring series including the American Speed Association, USAC Sprint Cars and Midgets, the IMCA Summer Series, the Mid-American Stock Car Series, Mid-American Super Trucks, Auto Value Super Sprints, HOSS Winged Sprint Cars, McLeod Gold Star Series, NASCAR REMAX Series, the American IndyCar Series, the UMARA Midget Series and others.

In addition to the regular Friday Night "Papa John's Cup Championship Series", CRD Promotions will also present "Short Track Saturday Night" again in 2003. Consult the CRD schedule for dates.
